Platinum European Fund
Asset Class: International Equities
Description: European Equities, Active, Value
- Following the same investment philosophy as Platinum's flagship strategy, the European fund invests in undervalued companies both in developed Western Europe and developing Eastern Europe. The fund invests mostly in European-listed companies, but may also invest in companies that conduct most of their business in Europe but are listed somewhere else.
- The exposure is largely unhedged to the Australian dollar, but the manager takes active currency positions across European currencies and the US dollar.
- The portfolio typically holds 30 to 70 stocks, can hold large amount of cash (if it can't find enough compelling opportunities) and may also short-sell stocks (although short positions typically make-up a small portion of overall exposure)
- While there are a number of ASX-listed ETF's that provide exposure to European equities, we believe that in the current market environment investors would be better served by an active strategy.
